State Organs Screenings in New York and Delaware
Amidst numerous death threats from the CCP, the 97th Academy Awards Best Documentary Feature Official Contender, State Organs: Unmasking Transplant Abuse in China (aka State Organs) movie, will be released in theaters in New York and Delaware starting November 9.
The powerful documentary follows two families in their 20-year search for their loved ones who disappeared in police custody in China. Along the way, they uncovered a harrowing government-run organ harvesting operation that has destroyed thousands of lives, and still occurring to this day.
It explores how the rise of the Falun Gong movement caused deep jealousy in Chinese Communist Party (CCP) Leader Jiang Ze-Min, and how that jealousy resulted in Falun Gong practitioners being directly targeted and subjected to forced organ harvesting.
With the H.R. 4132 Falun Gong Protection Act recently passed by the U.S. House of Representatives, the documentary is not only timely, but a vital educational film on a devastating and ongoing issue.
Since its theatrical release in Taiwan, the movie received coverage from multiple media outlets, including Formosa TV, SET News, Era News, Public Television Service, Chinese Television System (CTS), Liberty times, and various popular influencers. However, since Oct. 3, the CCP cyber “warriors” sent numerous death threats via emails, phone calls, or social media messages to harass and intimidate Taiwanese, including the theatrical distributor, cinemas, media, social media fans, local governments, city councillors, legislators, politicians, and even police department and the President's Office, attempting to stop the screening of "State Organs". The number of threat messages, the gravity of their content, and the widespread nature are unprecedented.
On Oct 9, Taiwan Police announced that the suspects violated the criminal code s. 151 by willfully doing something to intimidate the public, and police have zero tolerance for acts of this nature. The incident has been widely reported by the media, and many believe the threats are backed by the CCP’s government. On social media, many Taiwanese condemned the CCP’s cyber terrorism, and many more chose to go to cinemas to watch the movie. On Oct 9, State Organs became the top search on Google Taiwan in all categories.
Director Raymond Zhang: “The CCP attempts to stifle the freedom of speech and freedom of belief in Taiwan through intimidation, with a clear intention to cover up its forced organ harvesting. However, the response of the Taiwanese public made me feel more proud of the democracy and freedom of Taiwan.”
