The Reading Ministerial Alliance (RVMA) proudly invites the community to come together for a powerful and joy-filled Juneteenth Celebration on Saturday, June 20, 2026, from 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Zion Baptist Church. This exciting community-wide event will honor the legacy of freedom, celebrate African American history and culture, and inspire future generations through fellowship, education, entertainment, and unity.
Juneteenth, also known as Freedom Day, commemorates June 19, 1865 — the day enslaved African Americans in Galveston, Texas finally learned they were free, more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation was issued. Today, Juneteenth stands as a celebration of resilience, progress, culture, faith, and community while also recognizing the sacrifices and contributions of those who fought for freedom and equality throughout American history.
This year’s celebration promises to be one of Reading’s most vibrant and meaningful Juneteenth gatherings yet. Guests of all ages are invited to enjoy an afternoon filled with free food, live music, fellowship, cultural pride, family-friendly activities, and community connection. The event theme, “Our History. Our Freedom. Our Future.” reflects the spirit of remembrance, empowerment, and hope that Juneteenth represents.
Attendees can expect a lively atmosphere featuring live music and entertainment throughout the day that celebrates African American heritage, joy, and unity. Community members will have opportunities to gather in fellowship, connect with local organizations, support local vendors, and experience the warmth and strength of the Reading community. Vendors will be on-site offering products, crafts, apparel, food items, and other unique merchandise available for purchase, creating an exciting marketplace experience during the celebration.
Families and children are especially encouraged to attend and enjoy a variety of activities designed for all ages. Children’s crafts and hands-on activities will provide fun and engaging opportunities for young attendees to celebrate creativity, culture, and community in a welcoming environment. The event is designed to bring people together across generations through shared experiences, learning, and celebration.
Free food will be available for attendees as part of the celebration, creating a true community cookout atmosphere where neighbors, friends, churches, and families can gather around good food and meaningful conversation. Guests can enjoy fellowship and connection while reflecting on the importance of freedom, unity, and cultural heritage.
The Juneteenth Celebration will include moments that honor Black history, perseverance, achievement, and community strength while also creating space for joy, inspiration, and togetherness. The Reading Ministerial Alliance hopes this event will not only celebrate the progress made throughout history but also encourage continued conversations about equality, faith, service, and opportunity for future generations.
Guests are encouraged to wear festive colors, bring their families and friends, and prepare for an afternoon of celebration, empowerment, and connection. Whether attending for the live music, food, fellowship, vendors, crafts, culture, or educational significance of Juneteenth, all are welcome to take part in this unforgettable community event.
The Reading Ministerial Alliance is honored to sponsor this celebration and looks forward to uniting the community in recognition of freedom, heritage, and hope. Together, we rise. Together, we celebrate.
