GALA Literacy Summit 2026: Literacy in Full – Science, Meaning, and Voice


Join educators, literacy leaders, administrators, researchers, facilitators, and advocates from across Georgia for the return of the GALA Literacy Summit hosted by the Georgia Association of Literacy Advocates (GALA), an affiliate of the International Literacy Association. After nearly a decade, GALA is bringing back its statewide literacy conference during one of the most important moments in literacy education across Georgia. With literacy now at the forefront of statewide educational conversations and recent literacy legislation signed into law, this summit will create space for meaningful collaboration, evidence-based literacy practices, student voice, and practical classroom application. This year’s conference theme is: “Literacy in Full: Science, Meaning, and Voice.” The summit experience will include: • Featured keynote speaker • Breakout sessions focused on literacy leadership and classroom practice • Symposium/panel conversation • Practical strategies educators can immediately apply • Conversations centered on science of reading, multilingual learners, implementation, comprehension, vocabulary, and student engagement Educators from across Georgia and beyond are invited to attend this powerful one-day literacy experience taking place in Henry County, Georgia.
