Dr. Kerber is the May Brodbeck Professor in the Liberal Arts, Professor of History and Lecturer in Law Emerita at the University of Iowa, and a Visiting Scholar in the Department of History at Harvard University. A leading scholar of citizenship, gender, and authority, she is the award‐winning author of Women of the Republic: Intellect and Ideology in Revolutionary America and No Constitutional Right to Be Ladies: Women and the Obligations of Citizenship. She has served as president of the American Historical Association, the Organization of American Historians, and the American Studies Association.
