13th Annual Academy Awards Film Series--"Sinners"


Sinners will kick-off the 13th annual Academy Awards Film Festival at the Englewood Library on Thursday, April 16, at 2 p.m. in the library’s Room 2. The program is free and open to the public. Because space is limited, those who register will have priority. Registration can be found at bccls.libcal.com/event/16595577. The film series will continue each Thursday through May 28 at 2 p.m. Sinners is set in the Mississippi Delta in 1932. The film stars Michael B. Jordan (in his Oscar-winning role) in dual roles as criminal identical twin brothers who return to their hometown in the Jim Crow South, where they are confronted by a supernatural evil. Sinners co-stars Hailee Steinfeld, Miles Caton (in his film debut), Jack O'Connell, Wunmi Mosaku, Jayme Lawson, Omar Benson Miller, and Delroy Lindo. This Ryan Coogler written, produced and directed film received a record 16 Academy Award nominations, winning four (Best Original Screenplay, Best Actor (Jordan), Best Cinematography, and Best Original Score. Sinners is rated R, and the running time for the film is 137 minutes.
