Classical Music Concert: Susan Jolles (Harp) and Joyce Balint (Mandolin)
Join us at Philipse Manor Hall State Historic Site for an afternoon of classical and semi-classical music for harp and mandolin with Susan Jolles (harp) and Joyce Balint (mandolin). A combination of duets and solos will be performed. Presented by the Chaminade Music Club of Yonkers.

Susan Jolles, Harp
Susan Jolles is one of the foremost harpists in the United States. A founding member of the Naumburg award–winning Jubal Trio, she is presently solo and principal harpist with the New York Chamber Symphony, the American Composers Orchestra, the Little Orchestra Society, Musica Viva, and the Group for Contemporary Music. In addition, she is an associate member of the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra and appears with her daughter, Renée, a violinist, in the Jolles Duo. Ms. Jolles is a frequent guest artist with such groups as the New Jersey Chamber Music Society, the New York Concert Singers, and the Mohawk Trail Concerts. She was also harpist for many prestigious organizations no longer active, among them, the Contemporary Chamber Ensemble, Music Today, and the Juilliard Ensemble under Luciano Berio. Susan Jolles is on the faculties of Manhattan School of Music, the Mannes College of Music and Adelphi University. Ms. Jolles has arranged many compositions for harp, several of which are published by the International Music Company. She maintains a studio with her husband, composer Jerome Jolles, in Forest Hills, New York.
Joyce Balint, mandolin
Joyce Balint holds a B.M. from Manhattan School of Music and is the mandolin soloist with the Metropolitan Opera and New York Philharmonic Orchestras. She has performed as a violinist and mandolinist with many musical organizations including The Paris Opera, Boston Symphony, New York City Opera, Caramoor Festival Orchestra, the Amore Opera, Dallas Opera and the American Symphony. She studied with Alfred Krips and Einar Hansen (former members of the Boston Symphony Orchestra), Joseph Szegeti and Janos Starker (master classes), Roman Tottenberg (orchestra technique) and Robert Bloom (chamber music ensemble technique). “Joyce Balint shines in string recital” was the headline of The New York Times review of her Carnegie Hall Recital Hall debut.

About the Chaminade Music Club of Yonkers
For almost one hundred twenty-five years the Chaminade Music Club of Yonkers has worked to promote and encourage the love and appreciation of music. Founded in the Park Hill neighborhood of Yonkers in 1895, the name Chaminade was chosen in honor of Madame Cecile Chaminade, a well known French composer who specialized in piano and voice. Ever since, the club has been organized around live music performances and music appreciation.
