Kundiman: A Philippine Journey
We are pleased to invite you to our concert, Kundiman: A Philippine Journey, on Saturday, October 19, 2024, 4-6 pm, at the Rock Church in Elmhurst, Queens.
The International Women Artists (IWA), Kinding Sindaw, and UP Alumni and Friends Rondalla are all non-profit organizations dedicated to the preservation and promotion of the arts, and more specifically of the cultural heritage of the Philippines. Headlining the concert are internationally-acclaimed soprano Kay Habana, maestro Eric Celerio, and cultural dance organization Kinding Sindaw.
The goal of this concert is to raise the consciousness of Filipinos in diasporathe Filipino-American youth, and our friends and neighbors of our unedited history through Kundiman (traditional Filipino love song). The audience will be treated to an interactive concert, following the development of Kundiman throughout the ages, from pre-colonization to modern times. This concert aims to bring together all the generations in celebration of one of our most enduring and expressive means communication: song.
