City of Distant Neighbors is an engaging and accessible history zine that explores Buffalo’s racial segregation, focusing on key events from 1934–1961 that shaped the city’s neighborhoods. Created by Public Historian James Coughlin, it highlights the experiences and resilience of Black Buffalonians and examines how historical policies continue to impact communities today. Inspired by recent challenges, this presentation invites reflection and discussion on Buffalo’s past and future.
