Join us on August 31 at 7:30 AM at Bayshore Live Oak Park for the Overdose Awareness 5K/1 Mile Remembrance Walk. This event is deeply personal to me, as it was inspired by the tragic loss of my sister last November. After conducting research and discovering the lack of events in Florida for International Overdose Awareness Day, I felt compelled to take action.
Collaborating with Drug Free Charlotte County, Charlotte Behavioral Health Center, Cathy's Place of Charlotte County, and Durti Runners, we have organized this significant event to raise awareness about the overdose epidemic and honor those affected by overdose. The event will feature a range of activities, including raffles, a live DJ, and the distribution of free Narcan to all finishers. Additionally, participants are invited to submit photos of their loved ones on our website at https://runsignup.com/ODAY5K for a special tribute during the event. It is an opportunity to pay homage to those we have lost and show support for those still struggling.
Let's come together as a community to make a positive impact and bring awareness to this important cause. Lace up your shoes, join us, and let's make a difference together. Whether you choose to participate in the 5K run or the 1 mile Remembrance Walk on the beautiful Sunseekers Promenade, your presence and support are invaluable. #endoverdosenow #fightthestigma #TogetherWeCan
