Cultivating Utopia: Koreshan Unity Garden Tour
Step back to the early 1900s, when the Koreshans arrived in Southwest Florida with a vision of creating their own “New Jerusalem” surrounded by beauty and nature. Inspired by the City Beautiful movement, they shaped their community to bring together architecture, gardens, and everyday life. Every tree, plant, and shrub were chosen for either its beauty or its usefulness, showing their practical approach and love of horticulture. Join us for a 90-minute guided walking tour of the Koreshan grounds, where you’ll explore historic buildings, stroll through unique plantings, and hear the story of how this fascinating community helped shape Florida’s horticultural history.
Please come prepared with a water bottle and sturdy walking shoes. While there are occasional benches to rest, guests should expect to be on their feet for much of the tour, including some uneven terrain. Interested in getting more involved?
