"Empowering Black Entrepreneurship: South Carolina Book Tour,"

The “Empowering Black Entrepreneurship: A South Carolina Book Tour” launches on Thursday, April 23, 2026, at 6:00 PM at 1013 Duke Avenue in Columbia. This powerful evening, hosted by One Columbia For Arts and Culture, merges the state’s rich heritage with a bold vision for its economic future. The tour features a curated panel of three distinguished voices: Dr. Walter Curry explores the legacy of Dr. Matilda Evans, South Carolina’s first licensed African American female physician, and her impact on community health and business. Tayler Simons, founder of Liberation Is Lit, provides a self-publishing roadmap for BIPOC writers to reclaim their narratives. Dr. Charlene Sims shares contemporary strategies for wealth building and economic revitalization. Centered on the theme Connect, Learn, Inspire, the event is a call to action for local entrepreneurs and historians to build a collective legacy of self-reliance. Proudly sponsored by 7Sunday, the tour is open to the public. Tickets are available online, with sponsorship opportunities still available through Tayler Simmons at [email protected].
