When the S.S. American sets sail from New York to London, etiquette goes out the window. Billy Crocker stows away on the luxury liner to pursue heiress Hope Harcourt, who is unhappily engaged to an English aristocrat, Lord Evelyn Oakleigh. Aiding Billy on his quest is Reno Sweeney, a vibrant nightclub singer, and "Moonface" Martin, a notorious gangster disguised as a preacher. Together, they navigate a hilarious web of mistaken identities, disguises, and romance.
