May 10th ,12-4pm Open Gallery, Saturdays, May 16, 23, and 30. Sundays May 17, 24, 31. 12-4pm all days. In conjunction with Mare Island Art Studios “Spring Show”. Mare Island Art Studios is pleased to present Blue Skies No Candy, a solo exhibition of new work by Donna Wallace-Cohen,in the Small Gallery. Donna’s latest collection invites viewers into a thoughtful and expressive visual landscape, where color, form, and narrative come together in a deeply personal body of figurative paintings and assemblage. This new body of explores current societal and political events in a rich and compelling visual language. Ms. Wallace Cohen started her art career as Donna Herrick in the 1960’s on a houseboat in Sausalito at a time when the location was popular with Rock bands. She designed Rock posters in the psychedelic Haight Ashbury style including for the Grateful Dead and worked the lightshows at the S.F. Whisky A Go-Go. In the mid-seventies she was Director of Visual Presentation at the Emporium. Later was Corporate Vice-President of Visual Presentations for Bloomingdales for 9 years. Join us for the Opening Reception on May 10th from 12–4 PM, alongside the Spring Show, and experience this compelling new series in an intimate gallery setting. P.S.
