Kriste Michelini Gallery is pleased to present Threshold of Light, a thoughtfully curated exhibition featuring the work of San Francisco painter Christina Kent and ceramic artist Lisa Fleming. Bringing together Kent’s expressive oil paintings and Fleming’s elegant porcelain vessels, the exhibition explores light, shadow, form, and feeling.
Kent’s paintings capture the transient interplay between light and both urban and natural environments. Rooted in a practice of walking and close observation, her work reflects quiet moments found within shifting atmospheres. Her city scenes are shaped by structure, geometry, and the movement of urban life, while her landscapes open into expansive skies and softened horizons. Across both subjects, Kent’s expressive mark-making and attention to light invite viewers to pause, look closely, and experience the world with renewed sensitivity.
In dialogue with Kent’s paintings, Fleming’s ceramic vessels offer stillness, balance, and sculptural presence. Sophisticated and spare, her dark charcoal and black porcelain forms bring depth and grounding to the exhibition, inviting a tactile connection to material, form, and quiet restraint.
