Charo! In Concert

Charo is best known for her bubbly personality, thick accent, her signature "Cuchi-Cuchi!" and sharp comedic timing that made her a popular guest on shows like THE TONIGHT SHOW, DAVID LETTERMAN and MERV GRIFFIN as well as memorable acting roles on THE LOVE BOAT, and FANTASY ISLAND. But some may not know that Charo is regarded as one of greatest classical guitar virtuosos in the world, and has been honored by GUITAR magazine several times in her career. After having studied with the great Andrés Segovia in Madrid, Spain, Charo was discovered by legendary band leader Xavier Cugat. Blown away by the then teenage Charo's musical talent and stage presence, he introduced her to American audiences and she soon found herself a favorite on TV variety and talk shows. As a recording artist, Charo released a couple of classic disco albums in the 1970's with the Salsoul Orchestra and disco pioneer Tom Moulton. Charo's 1994 album, "Guitar Passion", was a critical and commercial success, blending traditional flamenco with contemporary Latin pop. The album went platinum and earned Charo the Billboard International Latin Music Conference's "Female Pop Album of the Year" award, proving her credibility as a serious recording artist. During the pandemic, Charo became an unexpected social media star, using the platform to spread joy and positivity when the world needed it most. Her videos often go viral and she has amassed close to a million followers. Charo continues to record, tour and act, with a new album coming out later in 2026 and co-starring with RuPaul, Sarah Michelle Gellar, and Jesse Tyler Ferguson in the highly anticipated summer comedy STOP! THAT! TRAIN! This concert is a fundraiser for the nonprofit Live At the Orinda cabaret/concert series and the Orinda Theatre neon sign repair fund. Live At the Orinda is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit presenting a community and subscriber based concert series with world renown artists from Broadway, jazz and cabaret. Founded in 2018, some of the artists presented have included EGOT Rita Moreno, Tony winners/nominees Faith Prince, Lillias White, Liz Callaway, Ann Hampton Callaway, Grammy winners Melissa Manchester, Maureen McGovern, international stars David Marino, Vladimir Kornéev and Geneviève Leclerc and many more. The Orinda Theatre is an art deco movie theatre opened in 1941, still presenting first-run films and is a San Francisco/Bay Area historic landmark.
