The Friends of the Skillman Southwestern Library present award-winning author and Journalist, Jim Schutze who will talk about his newly published novel, PONTIAC. The Skillman Southwestern Library Friends present Award-winning Investigative Journalist and author, Jim Schutze, who will talk about his first novel, PONTIAC, newly published in September 2024. Books will be available for purchase and signing. Refreshments and a brief Friends meeting will precede Schutze's talk. Known for THE ACCOMMODATION, his searing book on Dallas race relations, and for his investigative writing for several prominent newspapers, Schutze's new novel examines questions of class and race and changing attitudes toward women, at an elite New England boy's school. Despite opposition from some, St. Philips School has just accepted its first scholarship student, who hails from a working-class family in Pontiac, Michigan, and not all goes smoothly.
