Berkshire Choral International will present Mozart Resounding, a concert featuring music of Mozart and gems by two re-discovered classical period composers under the baton of Anthony Trecek-King. Anchored by Mozart’s celebratory Coronation Mass, this unique program explores Mozart’s genius by highlighting choral-orchestral works of two lesser-known contemporaries: Marianna Martines, the most prominent woman composer of the era and José Nunes Garcia, a bi-racial Brazilian proponent of the classical style. Martines’ Dixit Dominus is a rich and sophisticated setting of Psalm 110 and Nunes Garcia’s Requiem was inspired by Mozart’s own Requiem.
Trecek-King, BCI’s Artistic Director and Resident Conductor with Boston’s Handel & Haydn Society, leads a 100 voice chorus comprised of experienced choral singers from across the U.S. Distinguished vocal soloists include 2-time Grammy nominee Laura Strickling, soprano; 2025 Met Opera competition winner Sadie Cheslak, mezzo; Cameo Humes, tenor; and Rocky Sellers, bass.
