Takács Quartet, presented by Friends of Chamber Music


Artists in Residence at the University of Colorado Boulder, the world-renowned Takács Quartet was the first string quartet to receive the prestigious Wigmore Hall Medal (2014) and be inducted into Gramophone’s Hall of Fame (2012). The concert will be held on Sunday, September 8, at 4:00 PM in Gates Concert Hall, Newman Center for the Performing Arts, 2344 E. Mozart’s Quartet No. 15 in D minor, K. 421; Benjamin Britten’s Quartet No. 2 in C major, Op. 36; and Ludwig van Beethoven: Quartet No. 16 in F major, Op. 135. Check out FCM's entire season at www.friendsofchambermusic.com/events/2024-25-season/ About the Takács Quartet: Edward Dusinberre, Harumi Rhodes (violins), Richard O’Neill (viola) and András Fejér (cello) The fifty-year legacy of the Takács Quartet is one of constant discovery and rediscovery. The quartet was formed in 1975 at the Franz Liszt Academy in Budapest by Gabor Takács-Nagy, Károly Schranz, Gabor Ormai and András Fejér, while all four were students. The group received international attention in 1977, winning First Prize and the Critics’ Prize at the International String Quartet Competition in Evian, France.
