Join us at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, at the Highlands Ranch LDS Stake Center, 9800 Foothills Canyon Blvd. #B, Highlands Ranch, CO 80129, for a presentation of “Practical Artificial Intelligence (AI) Applications for Genealogists,” presented by professional genealogist Glenn York. Artificial intelligence is a hot topic in many industries. Big genealogy companies have been implementing AI tools to help us with our research. There are also several other general use AI tools that can be powerful assistants in genealogical research and writing. In this session, we will explore practical applications of AI, including locating records, transcribing historical documents, suggesting research avenues, and drafting ancestor sketches. Glenn York is a professional genealogist with decades of research experience across the United States. He began genealogical research in the 1980s at the National Archives and the Library of Congress. He works with his genealogy nearly daily and often incorporates technology to assist with his research. He holds a bachelor’s degree in social science and a master’s degree in telecommunications and has completed more than a dozen genealogical institute courses. Glenn attends several genealogy conferences each year as well as various educational sessions on the latest AI and other technology topics. A past President of the Larimer County Genealogical Society, Glenn serves as delegate to the National Genealogical Society for the Colorado Council of Genealogical Societies. He is a member of the Association of Professional Genealogists, National Genealogical Society, Genealogical Speakers Guild, and many other historical and genealogical organizations. He facilitates monthly DNA study groups, teaches genealogy classes, volunteers at a local library, and administers the BATES and RALEY Y-DNA surname projects and co-administers the Colonial Swedish DNA Project at Family Tree DNA. Arrive early at 6:30 p.m. for networking with fellow genealogists. You never know who might have an answer to your most perplexing research problem. Also, if you would like help using FamilySearch and the many other resources of the Highlands Ranch FamilySearch Center for your genealogical research, FamilySearch experts will be available starting at 6 p.m., for anyone wanting to use them.
