Join Jay Gorsh to Learn How School of the Wild Brings Outdoor Learning to Iowa Students - July 15
Dr. Jay Gorsh, Director, will join the Ikes July 15 to talk about the U of I's School of the Wild, a statewide initiative to increase outdoor learning experiences for elementary and middle school students across Iowa. Tuesday, July 15, 6:45 pm at the Des Moines Izaak Walton League, 4343 George Flagg Pkwy (intersection of Geo. Flagg & Park), Des Moines 50321. Jay will give us an overview of School of the Wild, Teaching in the Outdoors featuring details about the instructional approaches used during School of the Wild teacher training programs (developing a sense of wonder, guided exploration, telling stories of the land, integrating math, science, art, history, etc.); and Development in School of the Wild for DMPS and partnership with the Izaak Walton League. The University of Iowa’s College of Education in partnership with Iowa schools, County Conservation Boards, and many other local conservation organizations across the state work together to bring School of the Wild to students. Admission to Jay's talk is FREE & OPEN TO THE PUBLIC with doors opening at 5:30 and a Chicken Alfredo dinner at 6 available for purchase.
