Puppetry 101; A Workshop! By Modern Times Theater
No experience necessary, and puppets will be provided. For ages 16+
This workshop is a crash course in animating the inanimate. Participants will learn the fundamentals of hand puppetry and object manipulation. The workshop also includes hands-on lessons in basic puppetry gags and how to “incarnate” into papier-mache, as well as tips for how to make a “really good show”. No experience necessary, and puppets will be provided.
Justin Lander, of Modern Times Theater, has been building puppets and creating touring puppet shows for twenty years. He is a Professor of Mr. Punch and a specialist in object manipulation.
Modern Times Theater has been making and touring puppet shows, variety acts, and novelty music, and creating public community events since 2007. This event is in collaboration with Arts Midwest, Matrix Theatre Company, Flying Cardboard Theater, Michigan Arts Access, and Detroit Folk School.
