El Chuco Habla, Comite de Resistencia, is calling for the shutdown of ICE's Camp East Montana. Camp East Montana has been signaled out as providing inadequate medical and mental health care, of having unsanitary living conditions, of providing insufficient food and nutrition to detainees, of committing abuse and using excessive force by guards, and of putting up barriers to legal access and due process for detained immigrants.
On this historic date 250 years ago, the Declaration of Independence was made public and announced to the world that "...we hold these truths to be self-evident...that all men are created equal...that they are entitled to certain unalienable rights..." Except the document does not extend these truths to women, Blacks, Native Americans, or non-white immigrants. Camp East Montana is representative of the fallacy of those words today.
