Tryon Arts & Crafts School is proud to present a major celebration of wood artistry running August 7 through October 16, 2026. The main gallery features The Language of Wood, a solo exhibition of works by renowned contemporary wood artist Michael Bauermeister, running concurrently with the school's highly anticipated Wood Invitational, titled Fluid Forms.
In The Language of Wood, Bauermeister’s magnificent sculptures capture the wonders of the natural world through a deeply tactile vocabulary of carving, turning, and polishing. Utilizing salvaged hardwoods, he crafts human-scale vessels and multi-dimensional wall pieces with stunning, textured surfaces. Complementing his solo feature, the Fluid Forms Wood Invitational showcases an extraordinary collective of regional and national wood artisans. The exhibition features exceptional works by acclaimed master woodworkers Brian Fireman, Mark Gardner, and Wyatt Severs, highlighting everything from studio furniture design and intricate woodturning to contemporary sculpture. Together, these exhibits bridge the worlds of traditional heritage craft and contemporary fine art.
