The Carlisle Town Band will celebrate our country’s 250th birthday with a program of patriotic tunes and other music by American composers at its 2026 spring concert, America 250. The concert will take place on Sunday, April 12 at 3 p.m. in the Carlisle High School Clyde & Lyn Barr Auditorium, 723 W. Penn St., Carlisle, Pa.
Under the direction of David Rohrer, the band will perform selections including our national hymn, “God of Our Fathers” by Claude T. Smith, our national march, “The Stars and Stripes Forever” by John Philip Sousa, “Star Spangled Fanfare,” a narrated history of our national anthem, and “God Shed His Grace On Thee,” a new arrangement by Dr. David Kammerer, a member of the band’s trumpet section.
Special guests will be Messiah University’s French Horn Quartet performing David Bennett’s “The Four Hornsmenß.” They will also be featured in the premiere performance of Dr. Kammerer’s band composition, “River’s Edge.” Other selections will include “American Jubilee” by Charles Booker, “Variations on a Shaker Melody” by Aaron Copland, and “Fugue On Yankee Doodle” by John Philip Sousa.
Admission and parking are free. Donations are encouraged and can be made either in person at the concert or on the Carlisle Town Band website at http://carlisleband.org/donate.
