Audition Notice: The Prom

PERFORMANCE DATES: November 6th - November 22nd AUDITION DATES: Monday, June 8th at 6:30 pm and Sunday, June 14th at 6:00pm. AUDITION LOCATION Cheney Hall, 177 Hartford Road, Manchester, CT. Please prepare 16-32 bars of music in the style of the show and be prepared to move for the dance audition. Submissions will not be accepted. Location for all auditions will be at Cheney Hall, 177 Hartford Road, Manchester, CT. All roles are open. Character breakdown: Emma Nolan: Any ethnicity, 18+ to play a high school senior. A Teenager in Indiana and reluctant poster child LGBT youth. Very smart and a bit of a tomboy quality. Sweet pop voice, strong singer. Mix/belt up to a C#. Alyssa Greene: Any ethnicity, 18+ to play a high school senior. A cheerleader and a top student. Secretly Emma’s girlfriend. Faces constant pressure from her mother and friends. Pop voice, strong singer. Mix/belt up to a D. Mrs. Greene: any ethnicity, 40+. Alyssa’s intimidating, conversative but ultimately loving mother. Head of the PTA. Has a very specific view of what is “right” and “wrong” for her daughter and the school. Strong singer. Mr. Hawkins: Any ethnicity, 40+. The straightlaced school principal. An ally to Emma and a long-time fan of Dee Dee Allen. Strong singer. Shelby, Kaylee, Nick and Kevin: Any ethnicity, 18+ to play students at the school who bully Emma but eventually accept her. Strong singers and dancers. Dee Dee Allen: Any ethnicity, 45+. A current Broadway DIVA. A huge ego to match her huge talent. Hilariously self-involved with no filter but yearns to do something good for someone other than herself. Strong singer and dancer – big, Broadway belter. Alto. Barry Glickman: Any ethnicity, 40+. Flamboyant Broadway star. Completely politically incorrect and doesn’t know it. Impulsive and loves to make a scene wherever he goes. Longs to give Emma the prom he was unable to have as a teen. Strong singer and big belt High Bari/Low Tenor and moves well. Trent Oliver: Any ethnicity, 35+. A pretentious, handsome Broadway star who is probably better known for his TV Infomercials. Loves the sound of his own voice. Strong singer, pop and legit, Bari/tenor (D3-G4) and moves well. Angie Dickinson: Any ethnicity, 35+. An ensemble member of the Broadway production of Chicago. Jaded Fosse girl with a heart of gold. Strong singer and dancer. Alto with a belt (G3 – C5.) Sheldon: Any ethnicity, 35+. A charismatic press agent. Over the top character. Ensemble: Any ethnicity, 18+. To play high school students, Olivia Keating, Opening Night Party attendees, Reporters, PTA members, Monster Truck Rally Audience, Motel Clerk.
