The Brothers Grimm travelled the German countryside recording folk tales. The stories were oral tales passed down through generations, often told to adults for entertainment rather than being intended for children. The original stories were fables with a lesson woven in, and were often gruesome cautionary tales. Professional storyteller Tom Lee will help you look at these stories with an adult eye. You’ll grow to appreciate the enchantment of folklore while uncovering deeper truths about the malicious side of humanity. He’ll dramatize the stories, helping you see the power and surprising modernity. Mondays, Feb. 23, March 2, 9, 12:45 ̶ 2:15 p.m. Sponsored by President’s College Lifelong Learning at the University of Hartford. Visit Hartford.edu/pc to check this out as well as lots of other winter/spring courses & lectures. Email [email protected] or call 860.768.4495 with questions or to be added to the mailing list.
