Presented by Rev. Nicholas Bartoli
Beneath the words and images of every contemplative tradition lies a shared silence—a wordless resting in the Ground of Being that mystics East and West have spent their lives learning to abide with. Centering Prayer is the Christian doorway into that silence: a simple, profound practice, rooted in John Cassian and The Cloud of Unknowing and recovered for our time by teachers like Thomas Keating. It is a practice which asks nothing of us but consent to Divine Presence. Our day will consist of practicing together—giving ourselves to periods of silent prayer, learning the method and its gentle discipline of letting go, considering the wisdom of simply being with what is, and reflecting on how Centering Prayer opens onto a profound stillness that seekers of every tradition will find familiar.
