Pre-Show Social at Black Shamrock Tavern inspired by Kumu Kahua Theatre's Outlandish
Coinciding with the arrival of Outlandish at Kumu Kahua Theatre and a season of female-forward plays, everyone in the community is invited to enjoy a Ladies Night pre-show social at Black Shamrock Tavern. On November 21, this event offers a fun way to gather over specialty drinks and deals inspired by the new play! The pre-show social will be held at Black Shamrock Tavern from 5:30 - 6:45 p.m. For those interested in also attending the show that evening at the neighboring theatre, it starts promptly at 7 p.m. A BOGO ticket offer to that same evening’s performance of Outlandish, followed by a Talk Story with members of the cast and crew, is also available. Set in 1873, Outlandish follows Bird as she throws herself into the Hilo community with enthusiasm and occasional blunders at the same time the new King of Hawai‘i coincidentally stops in Hilo on his inaugural tour through the Islands. When Miss Bird (played by Julia Avilla LoPresti) and King Lunalilo (played by Kaipo Dudoit) meet at a party given in his honor by the local sheriff and his wife, they get to know each other in ways that challenge and surprise them.
