We choose seminar topics based on the most common inquiries. Sometimes we substitute a topic or change the order because of scheduling conflicts.
Recommended attire is business casual.
Here are some of the topics we typically cover:
-Texas Employment Law and Hiring Legally
-Federal and Texas Wage and Hour Law
-Unemployment Claims and Appeals
-Independent Contractors
-Employee Policy Handbooks
-Drug Testing
-Workplace Privacy Issues
-Background Checks and Social Media
This conference focuses on state and federal employment laws. We do not handle questions about:
-COBRA, HIPAA, ERISA: These are complicated insurance laws.
-Retirement/Pension Plans: We do not offer advice on these topics.
-Labor Unions or Collective Bargaining: We do not deal with issues related to unions.
These topics are highly specialized and require a lot of expertise. To get the best advice, we strongly recommend that you seek legal counsel that specializes in these areas.
Conference attendees receive handouts and a copy of the Texas Guidebook for Employers. The handouts and guidebook are developed by speakers and the information is explained in more detail during the presentation. For this reason, it is best to send someone in your place if you cannot attend.
