Gain a deeper appreciation for the stone architecture, monuments, and artwork of Crown Hill Cemetery in this hands-on soapstone carving workshop led by our artist-in-residence, Michael Moskaliuk. Inspired by the wildlife of Crown Hill Cemetery, guests will create their own finished stone sculpture, choosing to carve either a butterfly, hawk, or owl.The workshop fee includes a pre-cut stone, carving rasp, two sheets of sandpaper, and tung oil—everything needed to complete your sculpture. Carving will take place outdoors using shallow water bins for easy cleanup, so guests are encouraged to dress comfortably for both the weather and hands-on artmaking.PLEASE NOTE: All stone creature selections (butterfly, hawk, or owl) will be on a "first come, first serve" basis.
