A 4-week course that guides you through the foundations of acrylic painting. Interested in learning the foundations of acrylic painting? Take part in this free 4-session course at the Argenta Public Library! The intro to acrylic series is perfect for beginner artists or those who want a refresher on the basics. Community educator and artist Carol will guide attendees through topics such as materials, value, color, and composition via informational lessons and hands-on exercises. This series is aimed at adults and has a limited number of seats. Registering for this program is agreeing to attend all four sessions that take place from 3:00-5:00 PM on the following dates: April 9th: Materials and mark making - This session will offer a rundown of basic materials and how to care for your painting equipment. There will also be guided exercises to practice mark making with acrylic paint. April 23rd: Value – This session will focus on value, light, and shadow. Attendees will learn the essentials of black and white painting and exercise their skills with a light-focused still life display. May 7th: Color – This session will delve into color theory and mixing. Attendees will make a color wheel using their paints and try their hand at color matching with a still life display and new knowledge on mixing acrylics. May 21st: Style and composition – This session will explore different compositions and styles by studying other artists’ works, both figurative and abstract. Additional open studio hours are available without registration on April 16th, April 29th, May 14th, and May 27th.
