Just in time for National Historic Preservation Month, Megan Minter will present “Metal Marvel: Mount Horeb’s Lustron House,” on May 20, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at the downtown Driftless Historium (100 S 2nd St). Discover the history behind these ingenious mid-twentieth century prefabricated porcelain-enameled steel homes designed to help solve the post-World War II housing crisis.
Minter is the Assistant Curator at the Mount Horeb Area Historical Society. She holds a degree in History from University of Wisconsin–Platteville and served for two years on the Village of Mount Horeb’s newly revitalized Historic Preservation Commission.
Half-Hour History is a once-a-month midday speaker series featuring engaging presentations on local and regional history. Generously supported through a grant from the Mount Horeb Community Foundation, these FREE programs are open to all and take place at 1:00 p.m. on the third Wednesday of each month. Up next: “Mount Horeb Genealogy: We’re All Relatives,” presented by genealogist Kevin Tvedt on June 17, 2026.
