Illuminate: New Glass Works by Suzy Hendrix

ANF Architects is pleased to present Illuminate, an exhibition of new works by acclaimed artist Suzy Hendrix. An opening reception will be held Friday, July 24, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. The event is free and open to the public. Illuminate invites viewers to experience art glass beyond its traditional setting. While stained glass is often associated with sunlight and windows, Hendrix's work demonstrates how glass transforms under changing light conditions, creating rich reflections, subtle color shifts, and unexpected visual depth. Throughout the exhibition, recurring organic forms evolve into imagined landscapes of garlic bulbs, seed pods, clouds, tears, and nostalgic shapes, encouraging visitors to discover new interpretations with every viewing. Hendrix is an accomplished public artist whose work spans stained glass, dalle de verre, mosaic, steel, aluminum, ceramic, fiberglass, and concrete. She is currently creating a pair of monumental glass sculptures for the City of Jackson, Tennessee, while her most recent completed installation features six sculptures across three public plazas in South City, Memphis. Known for her commitment to community-centered public art, Hendrix spent nine years as a resident artist in Memphis' Binghampton neighborhood, where she worked alongside teen apprentices to create mosaic gardens and neighborhood art installations. Her sculptures have also been exhibited throughout the Southeast, including installations in Georgia, Kentucky, Mississippi, Alabama, and Tennessee. Hendrix's artistic vision is rooted in a sense of wonder and the transformative power of beauty. Inspired by travel, architecture, and the fleeting nature of everyday moments, her work seeks to create spaces of reflection, hope, and connection. Whether intimate glass pieces or large-scale public sculptures, each work serves as an invitation to pause and experience light, color, and form in new ways. So please join us for the opening reception on Friday, July 24, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at ANF Architects. Admission is free, and guests will enjoy complimentary wine, soft drinks, and light refreshments while viewing this exceptional collection. All exhibited works will be available for purchase by cash, check, or Venmo. For those unable to attend the opening reception, the exhibition will remain on display at ANF Architects from July 24th through August 20th, 2026. Viewing hours are Monday through Thursday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Fridays from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. For additional information about this exhibition or future events at ANF, please contact Bailey James at [email protected].
