The People’s Choice Barbecue Cook-off
The Southeast Overtown/Park West Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA) proudly announces the official semi-finalists for The People’s Choice Barbecue Cook-off, a free public event designed to celebrate Overtown’s rich culinary legacy while creating a transformative business opportunity for a local entrepreneur.
The cookoff will take place on Saturday, March 28, 2026, from 12:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the 9th Street Pedestrian Mall (819 NW 2nd Ave, Miami, FL
33136).
The three semi-finalists competing for the opportunity to lease the fully renovated, Historic People’s Barbecue Building are:
1. Extra Butter Miami competing as People’s Outlaw BBQ
2. Rosie’s competing as Black Pit BBQ
3. McKays Catering competing as Queen of the Kitchen
At the conclusion of the competition, one finalist will earn the lease for the historic property — ushering in a new chapter for a landmark that has served Overtown for more than 50 years.
