Homestead – Florida City Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Breakfast

The Homestead and Florida City communities will unite to honor the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. at the annual MLK Community Breakfast on Friday, January 16, 2026, from 7:00 AM to 10:00 AM at the Phichol Williams Community Center, located at 951 SW 4th Street, Homestead, Florida 33030. This year’s theme, “Mentoring the Dream – In the Deep South,” focuses on Dr. King’s enduring influence on mentorship, leadership development, and the shared responsibility to continue building pathways of opportunity for future generations. The event will uplift the importance of guidance, community support, and the collective commitment to advancing Dr. King’s vision. The breakfast serves as an opportunity for the South Dade community to unite, reflect on Dr. King’s teachings, and engage in meaningful conversations that support youth success, leadership growth, and continued progress toward equity. “Dr. King taught us the power of mentorship, community, and service,” said Vice Mayor Jenifer Bailey, the sponsoring elected official for the event. “As we gather this year under the theme ‘Mentoring the Dream,’ we honor his legacy by investing in each other, uplifting young leaders, and continuing the work of justice and opportunity for all.” The City of Homestead extends its gratitude to our event sponsors, The Palace Gardens, BrightView Landscaping, Southwest Advisory Committee, Community Relations Board, Gamebred Youth, and Chick-Fil-A Florida City for their support. Their partnership helps ensure this annual tradition continues to inspire, uplift, and strengthen our community. The Homestead–Florida City Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Breakfast welcomes residents, students, educators, faith leaders, business partners, and community members from all backgrounds to join this meaningful event. The event is free and open to the public, but an RSVP is required. Visit www.homesteadfl.gov/mlk to register.
