You’re Invited: Open House at Kouba Gallery – A “Sporestacular” Experience!
Trained as a designer at an art institute in Hong Kong and later earning a degree in advertising from the University of Minnesota, Lewis brings over 40 years of experience as a graphic designer, illustrator, and visual journalist. Following a 30-year career in visual journalism in the U.S., his creative path took an unexpected turn—from mushroom foraging and making spore prints for identification to developing a rare and fascinating fine art practice.
Using delicate, powder-like fungal spores—something rarely seen in the art world—Lewis creates intricate, surreal compositions layered with organic materials like leaves and roots. His work blends natural textures with digital color transformations, resulting in pieces that are both visually striking and deeply conceptual. Quirky yet contemplative, his art invites viewers into a world that feels at once grounded in nature and entirely otherworldly.
Come experience this “sporestacular” collection, meet fellow art lovers, and immerse yourself in an art form unlike any other.
Admission is free, and onsite parking, refreshments, and youth activities will be available. We look forward to seeing you there!
