The event is open to all vehicles and runs regardless of the weather.
Caleb Short served as Frontier's Warehouse Manager for six years before passing away from cancer in April 2024. His coworkers organized the first ride that September. It drew 35 riders and raised over $4,600 for his family. The 2025 ride welcomed more than 70 participants, including over 25 Frontier volunteers, and raised $3,500 for another family in the Frontier community facing cancer.
Caleb's wife, Deanna Short, attended both rides. After the 2025 event, she wrote:
“We had a great time today participating in the annual Frontier Poker Run in memory of Caleb. There are two things I know for sure, and the first is that Caleb loved his job, and he loved it so much because of his amazing work family. The second thing I am certain about is their love for him. I am a witness to this each time I receive a text or phone call with one of them faithfully checking on me and the kids. Being up there today just hugging them and listening to them say how much they miss him is a true testament to what this company is all about.”
