O'Keeffe At Ghost Ranch

Georgia O'Keeffe , an American painter whose career spanned seven decades, remains one for the most important and admired artists in history. She was a legend in the 1920s known for her dramatic and innovative art and, over time, became a celebrated icon known not only for her paintings but also for her independent spirit and for her distinctive style in all aspects of life. In the 1920s O'Keeffe withdrew from a prominent position in the ebullient art world of "Jazz Age" New York to live a mostly isolated existence in the arid landscape of Ghost Ranch, New Mexico. At Ghost Ranch she was able to paint and live by her own code: independent, disciplined, uncompromising. By the time she died in 1986 at age 98 O'Keeffe was a legendary figure who had influenced thousands of artists and shaped modern art history. Please join us as we view and discuss the work and life of this unique America icon. The presenter of this program, Mr. Hugh Ruddock was a docent for the Phoenix Art Museum for 30 years and has been giving art talks around the valley. Mr. Hugh believes the best way to introduce art is through stories. With the passion for art and talent in storytelling, he has brought the subject of art and artists to life.
