New singers wanted for NB Harbor Sea Chantey Chorus!
New Bedford Harbor Sea Chantey Chorus seeks additional singers for its 2026 summer season. Start-up rehearsals will happen on the next three Wednesdays starting February 4 at six o’clock. Regular rehearsals for the season begin on February 25. The chorus meets downstairs at the First Unitarian Church in New Bedford entered from the parking lot on Eighth Street.
Likely the oldest, active, sea music chorus on the east coast, the chorus has been performing to enthusiastic audiences at festivals, AHA! Nights, and regional venues since 2001. Chanteys and traditional songs the group has sung over the years will be the foundation of this year’s repertoire. Formal auditions and ability to read music are not required Singers should be able to sing within the regular bass to tenor ranges and contribute to the harmonic and rhythmic fabric of the group.
