Alpha Theatre and Arts presents Fiddler on the Roof

We have three shows available this summer at Atlee Church in Mechanicsville. Join us either Friday night, July 10 at 7:00 PM, Saturday, July 10 at 2:00 PM or 7:00 PM. Who are we? We are a company of Christians, involved mainly in theatre, but open to expression and sponsorship of other arts as the opportunity arises. Alpha has a small, hardworking board (actual parents of Alpha participants)which brainstorms, oversees decisions and strives to foster a cooperative spirit and unanimity in all that we set our hands to. What do we do? We put on small productions during the school year, offer occasional workshops and improv events, host theatre classes, perform occasionally for charities or ministries, and host a summer camp producing a Broadway musical, which this year is Fiddler on the Roof. Why do we do what we do? We enjoy theatre - and the creative process - and create an outlet for those already familiar with theatre production, as well as offering an opportunity for others to experience the process of production. We are primarily interested in building relationships, encouraging the expression of gifts, and aspire to conduct the entire production process in a way that will glorify God. We are unique in that we offer a part for everyone who signs up to be in a production; we do not use auditions to determine who will be in a show, but how those signed up will be placed in the show. In this way, we offer theatre opportunities for everyone interested. Anyone is welcome to participate who shares our aims and is willing to cooperate with our guidelines. How do we do what we do? Well, honestly, we operate on a shoestring. We pinch every penny, sweat every creative drop we can, and work really, really hard. We greatly value our volunteers, student parents, and alumni who give of their talent, time and resources to help make our productions happen. We are grateful for every ad placed in our programs and every donation and sponsorship offered to us. We labor to find non-profit-friendly venues and partners. Working with a very small budget forces us to do our creative best.
