The Coalition Theater proudly presents the 8th Annual 2ND BEST FEST—a three-day comedy extravaganza showcasing the best in improv, sketch, and stand-up. Running June 5–7, this year’s festival brings high-caliber acts from LA, Chicago, NYC, Baltimore, Raleigh, DC, and RVA to four incredible venues in Richmond’s Downtown Arts District.
Night one kicks off with a powerhouse lineup featuring Blueballs & Casserole, the long-awaited reunion of improv pals Josh Blubaugh and Bianca Casusol. Joining them are Airhead, a Coalition house team with charm and talent to spare; the stand-up stylings of Heather Joyce; and improv Bridge 9 Collective!

Blueballs and Casserole
Two people with unpronounceable names, one show! Josh Blubaugh and Bianca Casusol are long time long distance improv friends and THEY ARE ACTUALLY IN THE SAME PLACE AT THE SAME TIME! Watch them explore a special friendship between two very silly people. Josh Blubaugh is co-artistic director of the Coalition Theater and got his start at the Magnet Theater in New York. Bianca Casusol is an instructor at Second City New York and was the Mega Watt Director at the Magnet Theater.

Airhead
Airhead is a House Team at the Coalition Theater with a unique and unbridled energy that keeps it fun. With irresistible chemistry, Airhead seamlessly meshes a bit of short form punch into their long form set.

Heather Joyce
Heather performs all over Virginia, DC, and Maryland in comedy clubs, festivals, sci-fi conventions, and even elementary schools. She has opened for national acts like Dusty Slay, Brad Upton, Kevin James Thornton, and Leah Rudick. She explores topics from the nerdy to the risque with a unique and sometimes musical perspective. Her album, “Come and Get It, Nerds!” is available on the web.
Bridge 9 Collective
Bridge 9 Collective is the Bridge 9 Theater house team! This team is forged through a love of improv, detailed mime work, and connecting tangents.

Located in Richmond's Downtown Arts District, the nonprofit Coalition Theater is dedicated to creating an inclusive space where laughter connects people. Through performances, classes, workshops, and community partnerships, we help individuals discover their comedic voice and provide a welcoming platform to share it.
Proceeds from 2ND BEST FEST directly support this mission, funding performances, comedic education, and community outreach initiatives.
