Join us for a conversation with two leaders shaping housing policy in Richmond.
Delegate Rae Cousins and Mayor Danny Avula will sit down with Housing Opportunities Made Equal of Virginia (HOME) to answer one big question: How can local government and nonprofits work together to expand equal access to housing?
Delegate Cousins has championed tenants' rights in the General Assembly for years. This session, she sponsored legislation giving renters the power to sue landlords over dangerous living conditions. Thanks to her leadership and HOME's advocacy, the bill passed — and now heads to the governor’s desk.
Mayor Avula campaigned on expanding housing access and affordability, and recently unveiled a plan to build more homes and prevent displacement. Among its priorities: a zoning overhaul championed by Homes for All Our Neighbors, a coalition HOME helped establish.
Come hear what these leaders believe will move the needle toward housing access and affordability and how to make sure all Virginians live in safe, stable homes in neighborhoods they choose.
