The Gunter Hotel will host a full-day celebration on Friday, May 8, honoring blues legend Robert Johnson, who famously recorded in Room 414 in 1936. The event begins with a free panel discussion (4–5 p.m.) exploring Johnson’s legacy and influence on American music, followed by a public birthday celebration in the lobby (5–6 p.m.) featuring cake, coffee, poetry, and a vinyl listening experience.
The evening continues with a ticketed concert (7:30–10:30 p.m.) in the Crystal Ballroom, headlined by Sue Foley, The Peterson Brothers, and Nicky Diamonds. A late-night blues jam at Bar 414 (9 p.m.–midnight) rounds out the festivities.
