The Tiburon Peninsula faces a multitude of hazards including: earthquakes, wildfires, storms, flooding, tsunamis and landslides.
To address these public safety risks, a simple and free two-hour emergency preparedness program is being offered to all households on the Tiburon Peninsula through the Get Ready 94920 Program.
This class will provide the information and skills needed to be prepared for all emergencies such as:
What to do before, during and after an earthquake, fire, flood or other disaster.
How to survive in your home without assistance for 5 to 7 days.
How much water, food first aid and other supplies you’ll need and how to store and maintain them.
How and when to shut off utilities.
How to prepare and store vital documents.
Evacuation, reunification and communication with family, etc.
Local efforts such as AlertMarin and WEA emergency notifications, the first aid Station at the Del Mar Gym, early warning sirens and local radio station (840am), emergency vehicle public address and siren systems, and the block captain program.
Laurie Nilsen is the Emergency Operations Center Coordinator for Tiburon.
