An evening of infinite drams
Fog City Social, hosted by the renowned San Francisco Whisky Society (SFWS), is a festival created to celebrate and share rare and exceptional spirits with community and connection at its heart. Now in its fifth year, the social returns to San Francisco on April 25 at the historic Rincon Center, bringing together more than 850 spirits enthusiasts and collectors.
Some of the rarest spirits in the world never make it onto shelves, often going directly from cask to collectors – and you’ll only get to sample them if you happen to be in the right room. Fog City Social has built its reputation on being that room, bringing like-minded enthusiasts, collectors, and distillers together under one roof to connect, share, and celebrate their passion for fine spirits.
At the festival, every single guest is offered an elevated VIP experience, direct access to incredible industry personalities, exclusive collectible bottlings, and the chance to explore over 60 exclusive spirits producers. Almost anything you enjoy tasting is available to order directly on site.
Each Fog City Social ticket also includes a free festival bottling. This year, it’s Watchpost, an American whiskey blended by the team at Westland Distillery that’s arriving in California for the first time at the festival ahead of its wider US release.
Westland blends its own 8-year-old Pacific Northwest single malt with grain whiskey sourced from America’s heartland. The single malt is matured in new oak and PX-seasoned casks, while the grain whiskey rests in ex-bourbon barrels. Blended to be easy drinking yet full of character, Watchpost opens with notes of apricot and toasted biscuit with hints of milk chocolate and cherry pie. On the palate, lemon squares lead into vanilla and warm fudge. With fewer than 300 bottles released at a time, it is not widely available in stores. Reflecting Westland’s commitment to the Pacific Northwest, every dollar from each bottle supports the Washington Trails Association.
Over the years, Fog City Social has built a reputation for showcasing rare and special spirits, many of which have very small allocations and sell out quickly. This year’s festival exclusive bottling lineup will see limited releases from producers including Found North, Maker's Mark, the Scotch Malt Whisky Society, and Korean distillery, Ki One. There is also the rare chance to buy Beastmode Tromba Tequila – a tequila from former NFL star, Marshawn Lynch – alongside a number of new national launches and collaborations which will be unveiled during the festival.
Guests will have the chance to meet several legendary industry personalities and distillers in person, including Kazuto Hombo, President of Hombo Shuzo (producer of Mars Whisky), and Bryan Do of Ki One.
Guests will also be able to enjoy complimentary food served by Yank Sing, the James Beard Award–recognized dim sum institution, indulge in an array of lounges, be treated to cigars, and enjoy cocktails.
