Presentation by Dr. Frank J. Omowale Satterwhite: The Nairobi Movement in East Palo Alto

Dr. Satterwhite will discuss the Nairobi Movement, a significant political, social, and cultural renaissance that took place in East Palo Alto from 1960 to 1980.
During this transformative period, Black residents of the community rallied together to assert their rights and take action aimed at gaining control over government, education, health, and cultural institutions. This event promises to shed light on the powerful impact of grassroots activism and the enduring legacy of the Nairobi Movement.
