Pulp Dance Co presents the world premiere of "Pick a Side, Babe"

A dance-theater work that unpacks the social and internal walls people build—what it means to be a woman, bisexual and human in a world that is obsessed with categories. Using physicality and irony, the piece wrestles with masking, perfectionism, and the exhausting performance of fitting in. What happens when we finally let our contradictions dance? Sometimes I love pink. Sometimes I hate it. Mostly, I’m just learning to be.
Pulp is a fun group at its core—they use dance, theater, and satire to ask questions, have conversations, and (hopefully) make audiences laugh about their relationships with each other, the world, and its outrageous constructs. Founded in 2019, Pulp is a San Francisco-based dance company led by Artistic Director, Jenna Valez. They have presented work at ODC, Golden Gate Park, Joe Goode Annex, Dance Mission Theater, LevyDANCE, SAFEhouse Arts, Gibney Dance Theater (NYC) and more. The company has been granted residencies through Sonoma State University, RAW SAFEhouse Arts, and LevySALON, and has participated in mentorship programs such as ODC Pilot, Mark Foehringer’s Young Choreographer Forum, SFIAF Alumni Program and Doug Varone’s DEVICES (NYC). They are thrilled to be a part of the SF International Arts festival for a second year!
