Gallery 9's May Show features "Language I Don't Speak" by Roni Gerson
Gerson's paintings are built in layers: color fields, gestural marks, and symbols. The work doesn't illustrate ideas so much as searches for them, using paint as a way of thinking out loud. Light is her constant — the quality she chases and the thing that holds it all together. "Color and light are my first language. Everything else is translation", Roni says.
Roni Gerson relocated to California in 2015, where she began exploring abstract painting. Her work has been exhibited in California galleries, and this marks her second solo exhibition. With a background in graphic design, ceramics, and mixed media, she has spent recent years deepening her visual language through ongoing coursework and daily practice.
A First Friday reception will be held on May 1st, from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Join us at Gallery 9 to meet the artist and explore the language of color and light!
