Thread! Playback Theatre invites you to bring your stories to the stage in their new show, Where I Belong. Audience members share personal experiences of belonging — and of not yet belonging — and the troupe transforms each one into living theatre on the spot, unrepeatable and fully yours. Together, the audience and performers explore what it means to search, to arrive, and to finally recognize: this is where I want to be.
Sarasota's homegrown playback theatre troupe, Thread!, performs under the guidance of internationally renowned director Olga Sanachina. The talented troupe takes audience stories and, on the spot, portrays them on stage with acting, dancing, singing, and improvised original live music. Serving communities throughout Florida, the nine-player troupe are masters of playback theatre — a unique combination of improvisational theatre, music, and storytelling developed over 50 years. Each performance connects audience members and players in surprising ways that no other art form can.
