Set in New York City, Newsies follows a crew of young news sellers who band together to stand up to powerful publishers—and discover the strength of their own voices. With athletic dancing, unforgettable songs, and big ensemble moments, this show celebrates courage, community, and taking your shot.People of all ages are welcome to audition for this community theater production of Disney's Newsies: The Musical.

If cast, students (20 and under) will be charged an instructional fee of $500 (a discount will be given if there are multiple students from the same household). Adults will be invited to participate without fee when accompanied by a student. Adults without students participating will be asked to contribute at least 10 hours of volunteer time over the course of the program.

Morgan Heetbrink – Director
Morgan Heetbrink is the Drama Teacher and Stage Director at Lake Washington High School Theatre, where she leads, mentors, and inspires student performers across a wide range of productions. Recognized as an Outstanding Educator at LWHS in 2022, Morgan brings a strong commitment to inclusive theatre education and creative growth. She has directed numerous musicals and plays at LWHS, including Newsies: The Musical, shaping dynamic performances that celebrate collaboration and confidence onstage.
Paul Linnes – Musical Director
Paul Linnes serves as Music Director, conductor, and vocal instructor for the LWHS Theatre program. With over three decades of performance and theater music experience, he collaborates closely with directors and student vocalists to craft powerful, expressive musical storytelling. Paul received two Gregory Awards in 2025: Outstanding Music Direction and for Outstanding Performance (Band/Orchestra). The Gregory Awards recognize excellence in musical theater performance in the Seattle area.
